Monday, September 9
SOCCER: West 2, East Gaston 3; West lost a close one tonight at East Gaston! Edwin Ramirez scores another goal for West off an assist from Angel Duran. Senior Caleb Brooks scores West 1st goal of the game off of a header on a corner kick. Defensively West defensively lead by Luke Moretz with 35 play stops Caleb Brooks with 30, Jerick Alvarado with 26 play stops and Chase Driscoll with 20 play stops. Goalie Grayson Gilbert had 15 saves on 18 shots on goal allowing only 3 goals. West plays again on Wednesday, September 11 at Cherryville 6 p.m.
TENNIS: The Ladies Tennis team lost to Highland Tech, 4-5. Kennedy McCumber was the only winner in singles. All 3 doubles teams won. Kaitlyn Carpenter and Payton Hood won in exhibition singles.
Wednesday, September 11
SOCCER: West 7, Cherryville 0; West Offensively was led by Edwin Ramirez with five goals and two assist. Angel Duran scored the other two Goals and 2 assist and Gustavo Torres with 2 assists. Defensively West was led by Luke Moretz with 30 play stops Caleb Brooks with 30 play stops, Jerick Alvarado 26 play stops, and Reid Sellers with 26 play stops. Goalie Grayson Gilbert kept Cherryville scoreless with 12 total saves. Giving him his first career shutout. West starts conference play on Monday, September 16 at home against Bandy’s start time 6 p.m.
Thursday, September 12
TENNIS: The Ladies tennis team defeated Bandys, 9-0. Winners in both singles and doubles were: Stacia Cowan, Natalie Barger, Jada Willis, Kennedy McCumber, Hallie Black, and Payton Hood. Winners in exhibition play were: Abree Sutton, Kaitlyn Carpenter, Madison Parks, Scout Barkley, Raylan Morrison, Ava Godfrey, Grace Hoyle, and Ensley Woods.
