Ruth Short Pruitt
November 6, 1942 — October 11, 2026
LINCOLNTON, N.C.— Loving Wife, Momma, Nanny, and Sister. Annie Ruth Short Pruitt, age 83, of Lincolnton, passed away Sunday, October 11, 2026, at her daughter’s home.
She was born November 6, 1942, in Gaston County to the late Roland and Bessie Trammel Short.
Ruth worked hard all her life for her family. She was always quiet but loved singing for the Lord.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Roland and Bessie Short; her loving husband, Troy Pruitt; son, Troy Jr.; and siblings, Dwight Short, Ray Short, Lloyd Short, Clyde Short, Bill Short, Mamie Mosteller, Mazelle Saunders, Ethel Black, and Betty Bennett.
Survivors include her daughters, Tanya Church (Ronnie), and Patricia Jones (Coy); grandkids, Dustin Reinhardt, Chasity Rosario (Yeisson), Chandra Jones, and Trey Jones; great grandkids, Aby, Aly, and Annie Rosario, Brailon, Zailon, Tailon Jones, and Wyatt Reinhart; sisters, Frances Neal, and Shirley Pruitt; numerous nieces and nephews; and her very special fur baby, Thor.
Funeral services was held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, October 15, 2026, at Carpenter-Porter Funeral Home, with Rev. Richard Jenkins officiating. The family received friends from 1 p.m. until 1:45 p.m., prior to the service at the funeral home.
Burial followed at Cherryville City Memorial Cemetery.
