Robert Carpenter Presents Hoyle Historic Homestead Program Sept. 9

DENVER, N.C. - The Eastern Lincoln Historical Society will host local historian and genealogist Robert Carpenter as he presents a program on the Hoyle Historic Homestead on Monday, September 9 at 6 p.m.
The Hoyle Homestead located on the Dallas-Stanley Highway is the oldest remaining home in Gaston County. It was constructed in the late 1700s by German settlers.
Carpenter’s program will be about the construction of the home and the people who lived there. Prior to colonization the land was home to Native Americans and then was part of a grant acquired by settler Pieter Hoyle in 1754 with construction of the house at the end of the eighteenth century (precise date is unknown0.
