Kevin Sanders, For Lincoln County Board Of Education, District 4
This election year, LincolnHerald.com is offering candidates a unique chance to speak directly to you. We believe it's important for voters to hear firsthand from each candidate about their vision, experience and why they are the best choice for the role.
In this article below, you'll find answers to five key questions that reveals this candidate’s platform and priorities. We encourage you to read their responses to gain a deeper understanding of their plans and perspectives, helping you make an informed choice when you head to the polls.
- What key issues are you prioritizing, and what steps are you taking to address them?
- How does your background, values, education, and experience prepare you to represent the community effectively?
- What makes you the best candidate for this position and how do you differentiate yourself from your opponents?
- What long-term goals do you hope to achieve if elected to office?
- What sets you apart from other candidates, and why should voters choose you to represent them?
The following is the candidate's response, written in his own words:
1) One of the key issues I plan to prioritize is more educational opportunities for students who don’t plan to attend college. College isn’t for everyone and with the cost of it today it can make more sense to join the workforce right out of High School. We currently have the CTE which I would like to improve upon and would like to see some lessons on Entrepreneurial Spirit and how to be successful in business. These will have to be prioritized in the budget for action to take place.
2) I graduated from Belmont Abbey College and I’m the owner of Dry Otter Waterproofing, Inc. I have a son in the Lincoln County School System. In my business I promote a culture of merit, hard work, and achievement. This culture has allowed my employees to take personal responsibility in their work and thrive. I believe promoting this type of culture in our students can put them on a path of real-world success!
3) I bring conservative values to all my decision making. I believe in a classic education to give our students a strong foundation to build off. I have a strong background of success and plan to bring that experience to strengthen the Lincoln County Schools.
4) Some of my long-term goals will be to address all the extra students that are moving into our great community. We need a plan to handle this growth. This may be new schools or adding to the existing schools.
5) I feel I match the values of the community and will be a strong advocate for our staff and students. I will commit to responsible budgeting that prioritizes direct educational outcomes. I moved here 17-years ago to escape Charlotte Mecklenburg schools and I plan to ensure that moving to Lincoln County for better education is available in the future as well!
