Gloria Deane Hovis Mauney
February 27, 1931 - July 30, 2025

LINCOLNTON, N.C. - Gloria Deane Hovis Mauney, age 94, of Lincolnton, entered the presence of our Loving Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Wednesday, July 30, 2025.
Mrs. Mauney was born on February 27, 1931, in Lincoln County, to the late William Edward Hovis Sr. and Myrtle Edith Plonk Hovis.
Mrs. Mauney graduated from Lincolnton High School in 1949 and entered the Shelby Hospital School of Nursing, becoming a Registered Nurse. She furthered her education at Gardner-Webb University and The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Her career in the nursing profession spanned 56 years.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Mauney was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Hubert Bain “Polie” Mauney. She was also preceded in death by four brothers: Odell Franklin Hovis, James David Hovis, Max Gamble Hovis, and William Edward Hovis Jr, and six sisters; Lavon Elaine Hovis Bynum, Virginia Willie Hovis Hayden, Georgia Katherine Hovis Wilson, Evelyn Elizabeth Hovis Puett, Betty Jean Hovis Houston, and Sue Carolyn Hovis Heafner.
Mrs. Mauney is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law: Susan and Alan Hutcherson of Lincolnton and Amanda and Darryl Minges of Cornelius, sister-in-law; Ruth McSwain Mauney of Lincolnton, brother-in-law; Donald Hugh Rash of Lincolnton, and numerous nieces and nephews who showered their “Aunt Goga” with much love and joy through the years.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, August 9, 2025, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Dallas, N.C. with the Reverend Dr. John H. Spencer Jr. and Chaplain Lieutenant Colonel Michael S. Rash officiating. The family will receive friends in the church sanctuary following burial.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 531 Hardin Road, Dallas, NC 28034.
Warlick Funeral Home of Lincolnton, N.C. is serving the Mauney family.
