Ernest Ray "Ernie" Edwards
February 10, 1960 - October 13, 2026
LINCOLNTON, N.C.—Ernest Ray "Ernie" Edwards, age 66, of Hestertown Road in Lincolnton, passed away on Tuesday, October 13, 2026.
His funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, October 18, 2026, at Revival Tabernacle with Rev. Zach Franklin officiating. Burial will follow in the Massapoag Baptist Church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. until 2:45 p.m. at the church on Sunday.
Ernie was born February 10, 1960, in Morgan County, Kentucky, to the late George Washington Edwards and Phoeba Jane Collins Edwards. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, James Edwards; son, Jason Ray Edwards; and infant niece, Calisa Marx. Ernie worked in maintenance for American Woodmark.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Alice Ward Edwards of Lincolnton; daughters, Kelly Rhinehart (Chad) of Crouse, Ashley Wilcome (Brandon) of Lincolnton, and Stacy Cox (Larry) of Lincolnton; brother, Marvin Edwards of Kentucky; sisters, Gloria Gunnels of Savannah, Ga., and Virginia Edwards (Steve) of Kentucky; numerous grandchildren; one great-grandson; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Warlick Funeral Home of Lincolnton, N.C. is serving the Edwards family.
