ABOUT LINCOLN HERALD

Our History, Mission and Editorial Standards

LincolnHerald.com is an independently operated, locally owned online newspaper dedicated to serving Lincolnton, Lincoln County and surrounding communities in North Carolina.

Founded on August 26, 2012, by Jacob "Jay" Dellinger and his father, Larry Dellinger, Lincoln Herald was established with a straightforward mission: to provide local news, information and community coverage that matters to the people who live and work in our area.

Since its founding, Lincoln Herald has grown into a source of news, sports, obituaries, community announcements, local government coverage, public safety information and features about the people and places that make our communities unique.

Our coverage includes Lincolnton, Denver, Cherryville, Maiden, Alexis, Stanley, High Shoals and communities throughout Lincoln, Gaston, Catawba and Cleveland counties.

OUR OWNERSHIP AND LEADERSHIP

LincolnHerald.com is owned and operated by Jacob "Jay" Dellinger, Publisher and Editor.

Jay co-founded the publication with his father, Larry Dellinger, who passed away in 2015. Their shared vision was to establish an online newspaper focused on the local community and its residents.

The publication continues that mission today.

REMEMBERING OUR CONTRIBUTORS

Lincoln Herald proudly remembers two longtime contributors who helped shape the publication.

Thomas Lark – Former Writer, Reporter and Editor

Thomas was associated with Lincoln Herald since its founding in 2012. His writing and reporting contributed to the publication's coverage and commitment to local journalism.

Wayne Howard – Former Reporter and Contributor

Wayne played an important role in covering local news, government and community events. His years of reporting and dedication to keeping readers informed remain an important part of Lincoln Herald's history.

Both men have passed away but their contributions and dedication to community journalism remain an important part of the publication's legacy.

OUR EDITORIAL STANDARDS

Lincoln Herald is committed to responsible journalism, accuracy and transparency.

Our goal is to provide readers with information that is factual, relevant and useful to their daily lives.

We strive to distinguish factual news reporting from opinion and commentary. Opinion articles reflect the views of their respective authors and do not necessarily represent the views of the publication.

We recognize the importance of properly identifying authors, acknowledging sources and presenting information in its appropriate context.

Community announcements, news releases and contributed materials may be published when they are relevant to our readership. When appropriate, contributed content is identified by its source.

Advertising and sponsored content are separate from editorial news coverage and should be clearly identifiable to readers.

OUR COMMITMENT TO THE COMMUNITY

Lincoln Herald welcomes news tips, photographs, community announcements, event information and story suggestions.

Our publication provides a platform for residents to learn about local government, schools, community organizations, public safety and events affecting the region.

We believe local journalism plays an important role in keeping communities informed and connected.
