Ministry Observes Volunteer Month

Williams: important to show appreciation to those who give so much

LINCOLNTON––April is Volunteer Appreciation Month.

And according to executive director Mitzi Williams of Christian Ministry of Lincoln County, the ministry is this month taking time out to extend its appreciative gratitude to all its volunteers.

“Our ministry relies on volunteers every day to help us meet the needs of those in our community,” Williams said this week. “The volunteers in our clothes closet work with our clients to help them find any items they may need. They also sort the clothing that comes in and arrange it by size and place it in the appropriate section.”

She continued that the ministry’s clothes closet is open Monday-Friday, 9 a.m.-12:30 p.m.

“We need volunteers to help in our clothes closet,” she added. “If you would like to help out, give us a call!”

Talking of volunteers, Williams noted that on Tuesday, April 23, 5-7 p.m., Christian Ministry will hold its volunteer bash at the First United Methodist Church, located at 201 E. Main. St. in Lincolnton.

“All volunteers of Christian Ministry of Lincoln County are invited to this special event!” she said. “If you have volunteered in any capacity––LINC Home-Delivered Meals, the soup kitchen, emergency services (dock, pantry, warehouse and clothes closet), the Christmas ministry, the nursing home ministry, truck drivers, committee members, anyone who has collected donations for the ministry, and if you volunteer any time, weekdays or weekends––this event is for you! We appreciate all our volunteers, and we want to take this time to let you know how much.”

With the help of its member churches, local businesses, social groups and individual supporters, Christian Ministry seeks to meet the needs of those who are less fortunate through its emergency services, soup kitchen, annual Christmas campaign, nursing home program and, for local elderly and shut-in residents, the delivery of LINC Home Meals.
