STANLEY––As July 4th actually falls on a Monday this year, many churches are opting to celebrate July 3.
Among them is the First Baptist Church of Stanley, which will mark the occasion that Sunday at 10 a.m. According to Tiffany Lang, the church’s office administrator, First Baptist’s “God and Country Community Celebration” is planned to become an annual event.
“We will have several guest speakers from local public service offices,” Lang said earlier this week, “and this will be followed by a free hotdog lunch.
“This is the first churchwide community event for the First Baptist Church of Stanley,” she continued. “But the youth program has also been teaming up with several churches in the community for ‘Youth Connect.’ They meet once a month for a meal, sports activities and a brief devotion.”
To learn more about this, if you have a youth or youth group that would like to participate, Lang encourages you to call Jake Brewer, the church’s youth pastor, at (828) 421-6227.
And to learn more about these and other activities at First Baptist, call the church at (704) 263-4783.
