LINCOLNTON, N.C. - Ester “Ruth” Poarch Canipe, age 89, of Salem Church Road in Lincolnton, died on Sunday, November 13, 2022.
Her funeral service will be held 2 p.m. on Wednesday, November 16, 2022 at Redeemed Baptist Church with Rev. Alan Wheeler officiating. Burial will follow in Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until 1:45 p.m. prior to the service at the church.
Mrs. Canipe was born May 18, 1933 in Mecklenburg County to the late Pinkney Burgess and Mary Ellen Hamby Poarch. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Paul C. Canipe; one daughter, Mary Ruth Canipe; son-in-law, Milton “Shorty” Heavner; and nine siblings. Mrs. Canipe retired from Learning Land Daycare.
She is survived by one son, Richard David Canipe and wife Julie of Thomasville, Ga.; four daughters, Elizabeth Ann Hovis and husband Donald of Oak Island, Janet Marie Heavner of Lincolnton, Peggy Sylvia Eaker and husband Mike of Iron Station, Mary Davis and husband Ronnie of Iron Station; one sister, Peggie Ann Poarch Rollins of Lincolnton; five grandchildren, Nichole, Amanda, Rusty, Aaron and Richie; and ten great-grandchildren, Devin, Jasmine, Eden, Gin, Madeline, Holden, Tyndal, Tanner, Landon and Tripp.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of Lincoln County, 900 Dontia Drive, Lincolnton, NC 28092.
