NEWTON, N.C. - Carey Dowd Latimer, 67, of Newton, passed away on Wednesday, August 3, 2022 at his residence.
He was born July 2, 1955 in Mecklenburg County to the late Walter Bennett “Ben” Latimer and Marie Dowd Latimer. Carey was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Hickory. He loved to play golf and was very proud of his achievement of becoming an Eagle Scout. Carey was grateful for the summers in Linville while growing up.
Those left to cherish his memory is his wife of 42 years Barbara Beucus Latimer of the home; sons Stephen Latimer of Hickory, Patrick Latimer and wife Faith of Cary; brothers Ben Latimer of Mt. Pleasant, S.C., and Clayton Latimer of Newland.
A gathering of family and friends to celebrate Carey’s life will be held on Saturday, October 1, 2022 from 2-5 p.m. at Catawba Country Club in Hickory.
