STANLEY, N.C. - Mary Catherine Jennings Scercy, age 63, of Mariposa Road in Stanley passed away on Saturday, September 24, 2022.
Mrs. Scercy was born October 19, 1958, in Pittsburgh, Pa., a daughter of the late Joseph Arthur Jennings and Martha Elizabeth Merdian Herbert.
Mrs. Scercy is survived by her husband of 36 years, Ted Scercy; daughter, Jennifer Whitten and fiancé, Jay Parker, of Stanley; son, David Scercy and fiancé, Lacey Rowland, of San Antonio, Texas; daughter, Kimberlea Palsa and husband, Brian, of Strongsville, Ohio; seven grandchildren, Cameron and Mariah Whitten, Connor and Kade Scercy, and Aiden, Tucker, and Emma Palsa; four bonus grandchildren; two sisters, Marcie Smith and husband, Ed, of St. Petersburg, Fla., and Michele Jones of Iron Station; numerous nieces and nephews; and dogs, Charlie and Bentley.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Scercy was preceded in death by her brother, Michael Jennings.
Mrs. Scercy was a double lung transplant recipient, and her family would like to thank Mr. Gerry T. Reid for his gift to Mary that extended her life by twelve and a half years.
A funeral service was held at 3:30 p.m. on Monday, September 26, 2022, at Faith Baptist Church, Iron Station, NC, with Pastor Richie Honeycutt officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery. The family received friends from 2 p.m. until 3:15 p.m. prior to the funeral service at the church.
