MAIDEN, N.C. - Ellen Diane Herron Kirkland, 71, of Maiden passed away on September 20, 2022 at her residence.
Diane was born on November 27, 1950 to the late Dewey Lee and Ellen Faye Edwards Herron in Buncombe County. She worked in the textile industry most of her life. Diane was a devoted member of Union Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, George Raymond Kirkland, and her son, Steven Dwayne Kirkland.
Diane is survived by two brothers David Herron and wife Vickie of Maiden, and James Herron and wife Judy of Lincolnton; two sisters Deena Clippard and husband Nick of Maiden, and Donna Reynolds and her significant other Jerry of Balls Creek; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other cherished relatives and friends.
The Kirkland family will receive friends from 12-1 p.m. on September 23, 2022 at Goodin-Drum Funeral Home in Maiden. The funeral service will be at 1 p.m. on September 23, 2022 in the chapel of Goodin-Drum Funeral Home. Pastor Melvin Jones will officiate.
Interment will follow the service at Maiden City Cemetery.
