LINCOLNTON, N.C. - J.D. Cogdill Sr., 79 of passed away on Monday, July 25, 2022 at his son's residence.
Born in Madison County on January 8, 1943, he was the son of the late Tilman Cogdill and Caroline Deby Shetley Cogdill. He was retired from Carolina Mills as a card tender and was a member of Riverside House of Prayer in Dallas.
In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his wife, Edna Mae Cogdill; stepfather, D.J. Cogdill; two brothers, Donald Craig Cogdill and Ramen Lee Cogdill and a sister, Jeanette Plemmons Foster.
He is survived by his two daughters, Tammy Whitworth (Mike) of Cherryville; Sherry Ward (Eric) of Waco; three sons, J. D. Cogdill Jr. (Angela) of Lincolnton; Darrell Wayne Cogdill (Debbie) of Waco and Jay Harold Cogdill (Tina) of Lincolnton; also surviving are numerous grandchildren; great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
The family received friends on Thursday, July 28, 2022 from 9:45 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. at Stamey-Cherryville Funeral Home.
A Funeral Service was held on Thursday, July 28, 2022 at 11 a.m. at Stamey-Cherryville Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. David Chapman officiating.
The burial will follow the service in the Forest Lawn Cemetery in Lincolnton.
Memorials may be made to the donor's choice.
