To the person who keeps knocking down cross and flowers at the crash site ... this is just sick and wron. Leave his property alone. If it was one of your friends or family members, you wouldn't want people messing with their memorial. Have some respect for the dead and grow up. He didn't deserve what happened. He was a great father, son, brother, uncle, friend, etc.
People this day in time have no respect and it's a dang shame.
I Love and Miss you Corey. You will forever be in my heart and dreams!

Corey was not speeding that bad. They say he was going 50 mph. He didn't deserve this. He was my bff little and only brother. I've known him since he was like 7 yrs old so he was like a brother to me. He has a lot of people that love ann miss him especially his 2 daughters and the love of his life and parents and sister.

It is a true tradgedy when something like this happens. Yes, by NC law the owner of the horses is responsible when the horses keep getting out of their pastures. Sometimes it is hard to keep a horse in the pasture but it can be done for not only other peoples safety but for the horses safety also. The comment about rednecks and barbwire fencing wasn't showing much intelligence/knowledge about equines. Barbwire fencing is for cattle not equine.
If the roads are as curvy as another comment stated then although the horse owner is responsible for keeping the animals within his fencing it is also the drivers responsibility to drive safely. The reality of it is a horse is a big animal and it would require a hard hit from a vehicle to mutilate it. A hard hit would come from high rate of speed. So there is more than just the equine being out of the pasture that contributed to the devastation, sounds like there may have been more speed involved than was truly safe at that time of the night along with the curvy nature of the roads.

All these rednecks think they gotta have a horse, so they can play farmer/rancher. They don't know how to correctly put up a barbwire fence obviously. This horse owner is directly responsible for this. A quick youtube search will yield lots of videos on how to correctly put up a fence.
