BASEBALL
Wednesday March 1st
Forestview 7, Lincolnton 5
  • For LHS, Garett Hedgepeth had 2 hits, Will Blackburn, Caden Smith and Nate Hovis had one hit each.  Garett Hedgepeth started on the mound followed by Jesus Antonio and Karson Cloninger finished. The Jaguars got two runs in the bottom of the first; the Wolves took a 3-2 lead in the top of the 2nd, but Forestview scored four in the bottom of that inning.  LHS got their other two runs in the third.  The Jags added another in the 5th.  LHS is now 1-1.
R-S Central 8, West Lincoln 0
St. Stephens 13, Bandys 0
East Rutherford 6, East Lincoln 2
  • East Rutherford rapped out 12 hits off four East Lincoln pitchers, while the Mustangs managed only three--one each by Isaac Armstrong, Matt Phuntek and Nate Borchardt.

Home runs by Gracie Elmore and Amelia May accounted for four of the Rebels runs.  West took a 4-0 lead in the first inning, added a run in the 5th and 3 in the sixth.  Chloe Norman batted 2 for 3 and Addisyn Robinson 2 for 4.  Stacia Cowan was the winning pitcher, allowing just 5 hits in 5 innings and walking only one batter.

GIRLS SOCCER
Monday Feb. 27th
West Lincoln 4, Cherryville 0
Madalyn Dillard, DeeDee Wallace, Shelby Westbrook, and Calla Varner recorded a goal apiece. Goalkeeping was a joint effort by Laura Leigh Willis (60 minutes) and Olivia Ledford (20 minutes), who combined for the shutout.

  • DeeDee Wallace scored two goals--one in each half. Madalyn Dillard recorded a goal in the first half. Laura Leigh Willis got the shutout as goalkeeper.
