The East Lincoln girls and North Lincoln boys won games Friday night; for the East girls, it was their 18th win without a loss kept them at the top of the Western Foothills standings with an 8-0 conference record; for the Knights, their 13th win against four losses gave them a 7-1 league mark and kept them a game behind Hickory, whom they'll play at North Lincoln on Tuesday (Jan. 24th).

For the East girls, it was another one-sided win: they held Hickory to single digit scoring in all four quarters and won 64-21.

Madison Self had a double double with 10 points and 10 rebounds; she also had five steals and two assists. Kiara Anderson led the scoring with 14 points; shehad 9 steals, three assists and three rebounds. Emma Montanari scored 12 points, had 7 rebounds, four steals, three assists, blocked two shots and took a charge. Ginny Overbay had 11 points; Hailey McFadden 8, Madison Bissinger 5, and Abbie Hege 4.

The Knights led 28-19 at the half, then scored 26 points in the third period to put the game away. The final was 71-48.

For North, Kellan Karr led with 24 points; Connor Carson had 17; and Nathan Aberle scored 10. Reed King had 8, Ty Sanders 7, Carter Black 3 and Iverson Snell 2.

The East Lincoln boys came close to giving the Red Tornadoes their first conference loss: losing 69-62 in overtime at Hickory.

East led 30-23 at the half and 47-46 going into the final quarter, but fell behind and needed a couple of free throws from Jackson Fannon, a bucket by Nathan Kuthan, and a pair of free throws from Palmer Crichton to tie the score at 58-all and send the game to OT. A field goal and two free throws by Fannon was all the Mustangs got in the extra period and Hickory scored 11 points to win 69-62. The loss leaves East with a 5-3 conference record, 14-4 overall. They'll host Statesville on Tuesday.

Nobody provided any info on the North Lincoln at Statesville girls game.

Another overtime game Friday night involved the West Lincoln boys and the Bandys Trojans. Bandys led 53-46 going into the fourth quarter, but the Rebels scored 24 points in the period to tie the score at 70-all. Bandys outscored West 10-6 in the OT for an 80-76 win.

Jordan Truesdale led all scorers with 36 points; Zander Harrelson had 15. Others scoring for West were Evan Hartsoe with 8, Gideon Allen with 7, Bryce Beddingfield 6, and Luca Howell 4. Bobby DelGuercio also had 36 for Bandys; Micah Slaughter had 15, Dominic Robinson 12, and Landon Vaughan 11.

Bandys also won the girls game 56-52.

Lincolnton split with Bunker Hill. The LHS girls lost 50-48 while the boys beat the Bears 72-67. Leading by 20 points at halftime and 53-39 going into the final period, the Wolves overcame a 50-point second half surge by Bunker Hill for a 72-67 win.

The Maiden boys beat East Burke 57-33. No report was provided on the girls game.

Lincoln Charter won both the girls and boys games over Pine Lake Prep; the girls 72-29; the boys, 70-52. Kelan Flowers had 18, Cairo Morales 17, and Xavier Crawford 15 for the Eagles.

Fred T. Foard lost both games at North Iredell. The Raiders beat the Tigers 88-50, and Foard lost the girls game 59-37.

The Cherryville girls lost to Thomas Jefferson 55-42. No report was provided on the boys game.
