The East Lincoln girls are now 9-0 after a Wednesday evening (Dec. 21st) win at Statesville. East jumped out to a 21-1 lead at the end of the first period, scoring all the points they needed for the victory. They led 36-10 at the half and cruised to a 51-12 final score.

Emma Montanari had 12 points, 5 assists, 3 rebounds and two blocked shots; Madison Bissiner scored 11 points; Madison Self had 10, plus 8 rebounds and a steal. Kiara Anderson scored 9, Taniyah Thomas 7, Ginny Overbay 6, Abbie Hege 5 and Tatum Martin 1.

The East Lincoln JV girls also won 34-14.

The East Lincoln boys improved to 8-1 overall and evened their Western Foothills Conference record at 1-1 with a 56-43 win over the Greyhounds.

Davis Hill got things started with a three-pointer and had another before the end of the first period. Jackson Fannon scored three 3-pointers in the first half. Houston Hartsell had two three-pointers and Palmer Crichton one and the sharp shooting help East to secure its first conference victory.

East led 25-16 at the end of the first period, but
Statesville took lead 28-26 in second and led 32-28 at the half. Back-to-back three pointers by Hartsell & Hill gave East the lead 41-36, and they led 41-38 at the end of the third quarter; in the final period, a 3-pointer by Hartsell followed by a two-point basket and then a three-pointer by Crichton put the Mustangs ahead 40-38. A free throw by Simmons made it 50-40, and Hill made four free throws to give East a 54-41 advantage. Two free throws by Hartsell made the final score 56-43.

Davis Hill led the scoring with 16 points; Jackson Fannon had 13 points and 5 rebounds; Palmer Crichton had 11 points, 7 rebounds, and 4 assists; Houston Hartsell scored 10 points and Mason Simmons 6.

Games Thursday evening are Lincolnton @ Newton-Conover and Maiden @ West Lincoln.

Next week, the East Lincoln teams will host the East Lincoln Winter Jam tournament starting Wednesday (Dec. 28th); West Lincoln will host the People's Bank Holiday Clash starting Tuesday (Dec. 27th).  Lincolnton's boys & girls teams will also play in the tournament at West Lincoln.
