The Western Foothills Athletic Conference has announced its post-season awards for 2022, and no surprise, 13 players from the conference and state champion East Lincoln Mustangs were chosen.
Mustangs chosen for All-Conference honors were:
Ben Cutter, Tyler Mizzell, Keandre Walker, Markell Clark, Marcel Johnson, Landon Glezen, Parker Davis, Aiden Terrell, Christopher Daley II, Josh Gilbert, Terry Bryant, Blake Bradford, and Jalen Roseboro.
East Lincoln's Ben Cutter was named Player of the Year; Coach David Lubowicz, Coach of the Year. Mustangs quarterback Tyler Mizzell was named Offensive Player of the Year; Marcel Johnson, Defensive Player of the Year.
North Lincoln's Cody Morse, Connor Carson, Josh Fox, Reed King, Bryson Esser, Dylan Nestor, and Ryan Bassani were chosen for All-Conference honors. The Knights' Liam Sutton was one of two players honored as Special Teams Player of the Year; the other was Sam Buckner of Statesville.
Hickory's All-Conference players were Alex Womack, Isaiah Lackey, Marcellus Thomas, Deshawn Medley, Henry Pitts, Henry Stewart, Noah Surbaugh and Tristian Williams.
From St. Stephens, Peyton Young, Chip Hendren, Dayton Anderson, Brycen Gaither, Ethan Atwood and Kristian Williams were chosen.
West Iredell's selections were Bud Dalton, CJ Ferguson, and JJ Glaspy. Fred T. Foard's choices were Sam Drum and Stewart Simmons; from Statesville, Titus Myers, Kemarri Daniels, Keidron Dukes, Steven Hamby, Jeremah Heaggans, Sam Buckner, Steven Smith, Juelz Martinez, Zaki Lackey and Dezion Scott; and from North Iredell, Tanner Lentz, Chance Weatherman, Ian Smith, and Will Akers.
