East Lincoln's basketball teams like the East Lincoln football team are undefeated. Of course, for the basketball teams, it's early in the season, while the football team is getting ready to play for a state championship this Saturday night.
East Lincoln girls 66, South Iredell 13
The Mustangs girls and boys both won Tuesday evening. The girls held South Iredell to just 13 points in a 66-13 victory that gave them a 4-0 record. Ginny Overbay recorded a triple double with 11 points, 11 steals and 10 rebounds while adding 4 assists. Madison Bissinger had 11 points; and Kiara Anderson had a double double with 10 points and 10 steals; she also had 7 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 blocks. Hailey McFadden scored 7 points, and Kensley Rhinehart 2.
East Lincoln boys 70, South Iredell 61
The East Lincoln boys outscored South Iredell 39-27 in the first half and cruised in the second to win 70-61 Tuesday night in Troutman. East had four players in double figures: Palmer Crichton had 16 points, 6 rebounds, and 4 steals. Jackson Fannon also had 16 points, plus 5 rebounds and 2 assists. Davis Hill scored 12 points, had 6 assists, and 3 steals; and Houston Hartsell had 10 points and 5 assists. Nathan Kuthan and Mason Simmons each had 8 points. The Mustangs have defeated the Vikings five straight times from 2018-2022.
West Lincoln girls 59, North Lincoln 49
West overcame a 27-23 halftime deficit outscoring North 19-8 in the third period. Chloe Norman led all scorers with 21 points; Anna Bieberich and Carolina Robinson each had 12, and Zoey Owenby 10. Ashton Jenkins and Calla Varner each had 2 for West. For North, Hailey Hagler scored 17, Julia Frantz 14, Taylor Lusk 6, Angely Soto 4, Ayanna Gaddy &
Aubrie Cada 3 each, and Brooke Custer and Clara Grace Dellinger each scored a point.
North Lincoln boys 56, West Lincoln 39
The Knights held the Rebels scoreless in the first period and led 16-12 at the half. They outscored West 23-10 in the third period. North's boys are now 2-0 while the West boys are 1-3. For the Knights, Connor Carson had 16 points, Kellan Karr and Ty Sanders each had 11, Carter Black 7, Tanner Lineberger 4, Connor Risse 3, and Reed King & Ben Cipriano 2 apiece. For West Lincoln, Jordan Truesdale was the leading scorer overall with 24 points, Gideon Allen had 7, Lucas Howell 5 and Zander Harrelson 4.
