East Lincoln took a pair of games from Lincolnton on Saturday afternoon (Dec. 3rd) as both the Mustangs boys and girls teams improved to 3-0 on the season.
In the girls game, it wasn't close. East scored 29 points in the first period--more than the LHS girls had for the game in a 77-20 win. Emma MOntanari led the way with 18 points, 4 rebounds, 4 assists, and 3 blocked shots; Ginny Overbay scored 15 points, had 7 rebounds, 5 steals, and 3 assists. Kiara Anderson added 13 points 7 rebounds, 6 steals, and had 12 assists. Madison Bissinger scored 12 points and had 8 rebounds; Madison Self had 11 points, 6 rebounds, 3 steals, and an assist. Hailey McFadden had 7 points and Kristen LeGrand 1. For LHS, Mackenzie Sand-Odom had 9 points; Justice Smith 5, Kayden Ray 2, Sarah Rhyne 2, and Camellia Holland 1.
In the boys game, Lincolnton led 25-23 at halftime, but East outscored the Wolves by 9 in the third period and won the game 58-48. For the Mustangs, senior Palmer Crichton had a career high 23 points, 6 rebounds and 2 assists. Sophomore Jackson Fannon scored 14 points and Mason Simmons 10. Davis Hill had 8 points, Nathan Kuthan 2, and Houston Hartsell 1. The Wolves had two players in double figures: junior Andrew Phelps had 15 points and senior Will Blackburn had 13.
West Lincoln had a rough trip to the mountains--losing both the girls and boys games at Avery County. The West girls lost 77-62. That evens their season record at two wins, two losses. The West boys are 1-3 after a 62-57 loss.
