The rematch has arrived in the NCHSAA 2A Football playoffs. Maiden will host Bunker Hill this Friday night in the third round. The Blue Devils won a 36-33 victory in their regular season meeting, coming from a 33-25 deficit beginning the fourth quarter to score the winning touchdown with less than a minute left in the game. The Bears have been eager for a rematch and that happens this Friday. The winner will play the winner of a Friday night game between 12-0 Chase and 11-1 Reidsville for the West Region championship and a spot in the NCHSAA 2A state championship game.
Another rematch this Friday has Crest at South Point. The Raiders won their regular season meeting 35-13.
Kings Mountain is still unbeaten. The Mountaineers host West Charlotte this Friday. The winner gets a fourth round game with the winner of the Ledford at East Lincoln game. The Mustangs are also undefeated and have romped almost effortlessly over all their opponents.
Burns will host Salisbury in what on paper appears to be the closest match of the night. The winner of that 2A playoff game will play the winner of a Monroe at East Surry game in next week's fourth round.
