In soccer, North Lincoln evened its season record with a 3-1 win at Statesville on Tuesday. The 9-9-2 Knights have one game left to play: at home Wednesday (6 PM) against North Iredell. In other games scheduled for Wednesday, West Lincoln will host Lincolnton, Maiden will play at home against Newton-Conover, Foard will host North Gaston, Bandys will play at Bunker Hill, Cherryville will host Bessemer City. East Lincoln has finished its regular season. The Mustangs will get the top seed of any Western Foothills Conference team in the state 3A playoffs when pairings are announced Friday (Oct. 28th). The first round of the playoffs will be Monday at the home of the higher seeded team. MaxPreps has East ranked #3 in the Western Region 3A and Hickory #2 but the Mustangs beat Hickory n their most recent head-to-head match (the first was a tie). Asheboro is ranked #1 in the west. East will certainly have a home match to start the playoffs.

Local volleyball teams didn't fare well on Tuesday. Kings Mountain eliminated East Lincoln in the 3A playoffs with a 3-0 win. North Lincoln lost to West Henderson 3-0. Fred T. Foard won 3-0 over Oak Grove. Maiden lost in the 2A playoffs to North Stanly 3-1.
The NCHSAA Cross Country Regionals are scheduled for this Saturday (Oct. 29th). The 3A meet will be at Freedom High School in Morganton. North Lincoln, East Lincoln, and Fred T. Foard Cross Country teams will participate as will Hickory, Kings Mountain, Crest, St. Stephens, South Point, Ashbrook, Hunter Huss, Stuart Cramer and Forestview.
The 2A west Regional will be at Swannanoa. Lincolnon, West Lincoln, Lincoln Charter, Maiden and Bandys will compete there, along with Burns, East Gaston, Shelby, South Point and Newton-Conover.
East Lincoln's girls tennis team won, while North Lincoln was eliminated by Lake Norman Charter in the NCHSAA tennis 3A team championships, losing Tuesday 5-1. Emma Carver won her singles match, the only win on Tuesday for the Knights. For the Mustangs, Karsyn Sink, Molly McGuirk, Katherine Brown, and Sophie Meyers won their singles matches; Sink & Meyers, McGuirk & Brown, and Ameiia Barrineau & Paige Bias won in doubles. The Mustangs will now travel to Franklin to play in round three at 4 PM next Monday (Oct. 31st). Maiden also lost in the 2A playoffs, 5-2 to Hendersonville. West Lincoln will now play that Hendersonville team (there) next Monday (Oct. 31st). West beat the Lincoln Charter girls 5-2 Tuesday. Chloe Norman, Bailey Huss, Addison Sain, and Jada Willis won singles matches; Huss & Norman won in doubles.
