The West Lincoln girls golf team won the Big South North Gaston Invitational Tuesday (Oct. 11th) at Lincoln Country Club with a team score of 129. Senior Reese Coltrane was again the medalist. The Rebels' freshman players did well. Melony Hoffman shot a 45; Taylor Turner had a 47; Ansley Howard had a 53. All three of them are freshmen. Sophomore Gracie Campbell a 56. South Point was second in the 9-hole event with a 139 score.
The Tuesday win came just one day after the Rebels golfers won the Polk Invitational at Meadowbrook Golf Club in Rutherfordton. They had a team score of 297 and an easy win over second place Hendersonville. Chase finished third, Brevard, fourth; Polk County, fifth; and Patton, sixth. Coltrane was also the medalist there with an 18-hole score of 87. Hoffman finished fourth in individual scoring with a 101; Campbell fifth wth a 111.
Coltrane has been the medailist in 7 of the 16 matches the Rebels have played this season.
The Rebels will now play in the 1A/2A Western Regional Championship next Tuesday (Oct. 18th) at Mimosa Hills in Morganton.
