Gaston County Police say a Monday afternoon incident on Robinson-Clemmer Road in Dallas was a double murder/suicide. Police were called shortly after 3 PM to a location where a car had run off the roadway. Inside the vehicle, they found a 57-year-old Kings Mountain woman, who had been the driver of the car, and a 55-year-old Gastonia man, who had been a front seat passenger, and a 34-year-old Kings Mountain man, who was in the back seat, all dead from gunshot wounds. Police say the younger man apparently shot the other man and woman and then committed suicide.
While the police response came after a call to the Gaston County Communications Center after 3 PM, police say the shootings and wreck of the vehicle likely occurred between 1:30 and 2 PM. In keeping with Lincoln Herald policy regarding suicides, we are not reporting the names of the deceased, although the identities have been released by police.
Police said their investigation of the incident is continuing, and if anyone has information pertinent to the case, they should contact Det. J. P. Brienza at 704-866-3320. Information can also be provided through Gaston County CrimeStoppers at 704-861-8000.
