It's Apple Festival Day! The festival celebrates its 50th birthday with the first Apple Festival in two years.
Parking will be available in several locations. You can pay to park (for charitable causes) at several. You can park at the Lincolnton High School parking lot on N. Aspen St. or at the Food Lion on Riverside Drive and take the shuttle to the intersection of N. Poplar St. and Sycamore St. (1st Federal Park). In previous years, the shuttle parking was at LHS; this year, it's at two locations. Also different, this year you have to pay $2 to park at those locations (proceeds go to Boy Scout Troop 75); the shuttle ride to and from the festival is free.
Weather should be sunny, cool in the morning hours but warming to over 70° by afternoon.
Also happening this weekend is the Shelby livermush festival, officially known as Mush, Music & Mutts and Gastonia will have a Rocktoberfest event Saturday night in their downtown.
After the Apple Festival, you may want to see the Lincoln Theatre Guild's production of "Little Shop of Horrors" at the Cultural Center. It will also be performed Sunday at 2 PM and next weekend Friday & Saturday nights at 7 and Sunday afternoon at 2.
