LINCOLNTON––St. Patrick’s Day was marred locally by a vehicular collision on the Startown Road.

According to Lincoln County Emergency Medical Services Manager Kimberly Campbell, the crash occurred at about 1:13 p.m.

As Campbell informed later this afternoon, Lincoln County EMS personnel “responded to a reported motor vehicle collision at 2961 Startown Road. Lincoln County EMS Medic Eight, Medic Seven, Medic Nine and the EMS Shift Supervisor responded to find a motor vehicle collision (or MVC) involving two vehicles and five victims.

“Two adult victims refused transport by EMS,” she continued. “One victim, a minor, was transported to Atrium Health-Lincoln, with non-life-threatening injuries. One victim, a minor, was transported to CaroMont Regional Medical Center (in Gastonia), with potentially life-threatening injuries.”

In an update later Friday afternoon, Campbell added that another victim, also a minor and in a life-threatening condition, was likewise taken to Atrium Health-Lincoln.

She continued that additional responders at the scene included personnel from the North 321 Fire Department, the North Carolina State Highway Patrol and the Catawba County Emergency Medical Services team.

No further details are available at this time. The Herald will update this story as more details are released.
