LINCOLNTON, N.C. – A Lincoln County man has been charged in connection with child sexual assaults that occurred in 2022.
On November 2, 2022, the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office received information regarding the sexual assaults of a child. The juvenile victim, who was known to the suspect, disclosed the sexual assaults at the Lincoln County Child Advocacy Center on November 10, 2022 during a forensic interview.
Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office Detective K. Harrington interviewed the defendant, Charles Edward Ramsey Jr., 23, of Lincolnton, NC on January 18, 2023 at the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office. During the interview, Mr. Ramsey admitted to the allegations.
On January 19, 2023 he was charged and arrested on three counts of taking indecent liberties with a child. He was taken before a Lincoln County magistrate and placed in the Harven A. Crouse Detention Center under a $45,000 secured bond. Mr. Ramsey had a first appearance hearing in Lincoln County District Court on January 20, 2023.
