Lincoln County Sheriff's Office Press Release
LINCOLNTON, N.C. - Lincoln County Sheriff's deputies along with a Gaston County Police Department K-9 unit arrested a Stanley man on a number of charges on Wednesday.
Around 1:30 p.m. on November 30, 2022 officers went to a location in the 5400 block of E. NC 150 Hwy in Lincoln County searching for Devin Darshun Mitchell, 26, of Stanley, NC. Officers covered both entrances to the residence and Mitchell climbed from a second story window in attempt to flee. When he saw the officers he returned inside of the residence. At that time deputies and detectives entered and took Mitchell into custody.
While being taken to a transport vehicle, Mitchell continued to struggle and attempted to pull away from officers. As officers placed him in shackles, he kicked two officers as he was placed in the patrol car.
Mitchell is charged in Lincoln County with the theft of two vehicles. On November 17, 2022 a truck was stolen from Lake Norman Sewer and Septic Service. The truck was located on Mack Ballard Road by the owner's son but the suspect fled the scene when confronted by the man. The vehicle was recovered.
Also on November 17, 2022 a vehicle was stolen from a business in the 7200 block of Campground Road. That vehicle was also located. It had been left abandoned on Innes Lane near the location of the previously reported stolen vehicle.
Mitchell was taken before a Lincoln County magistrate and charged with two felony counts of larceny of a motor vehicle and two felony counts of possession of a stolen vehicle. Deputies also charged the suspect with assault on a government official and resist, delay and obstruct a public officer. He was also served with Gaston County warrants for breaking and entering a motor vehicle, felony larceny and failure to appear for a court date. Bond was set at $96,000 secured with a no bond hold for Gaston County.
