One Killed in Wednesday Morning Collision

Lincoln Herald Staff
[email protected]

a 42-year-old Lincolnton man was killed Wednesday morning when his vehicle collided with another on East Main Street near Ingles. Michael Hickey was driving a 2020 Ford Mustang, traveling east on the highway, when his car crossed the center line and collided head-on with a 2022 Jeep Grand Wagoneer. The driver of the Jeep was transported to a Gastonia hospital with non-life threatening injuries, but Hickey was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash about 9 AM.

Police said there was no sign of impairment at the scene but the speed of the Mustang appeared to have been a factor in the severity of the collision. The accident is still under investigation; anyone who witnessed the crash or has other information should contact Officer White with the Lincolnton Police Department at 704-736-8900.
