Lincoln County Sheriff's
Office Press Release

LINCOLNTON, N.C. – An employee of the West Lake Preparatory Academy in Denver has been charged with stealing medication belonging to two students.

On September 13, 2022 the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office received a report from West Lake Preparatory Academy on Forney Creek Parkway claiming an employee had removed medication belonging to students from a cabinet in the nurse’s office.

The school nurse reported the incident to the principal who began reviewing surveillance footage and found that an employee, Holly Lynn Bare, 43, of Stanley, NC had gone into the cabinet where the medication was stored on two separate occasions. One incident occurred while the nurse wasn’t looking and the second occurred while the nurse was out of the office. At the time of the report, West Lake Preparatory Academy had already begun following school procedures concerning the employee.

After Detective F. Runyon reviewed the footage he charged Ms. Bare with two misdemeanor counts of larceny and two misdemeanor counts of possession of stolen goods. Warrants were served on Bare in Gaston County and she gave a written promise to appear on the court date in Lincoln County.
