9/8/2022 4:43:00 PM Truck Driver Killed in Wreck on Alexis-High Shoals Road

The driver of a dump truck was killed Thursday afernoon (Sept. 8th) in a single vehicle accident on the Alexis-High Shoals Road. The westbound truck ran off the road to the left and into a tree about a tenth of a mile west of the Rhyne Road intersection one mile west of Alexis. The driver, 31-year-old Andrew Justin Dellinger of Gastonia, was wearing his safety belt according to the Highway Patrol, but died as a result of his injuries from the collission. The troopers said the owner of the company that owned the truck responded to the scene as well as the grandfather of the deceased and the death notification was completed by Sgt. R.B. Huffstickler. Gaston County Crime Scene photographed the scene. The roadway was shut down for several hours while the damaged truck was removed. Sgt. R. McGee and Trooper J.J. Waters responded to the collision. Goudelock's Wrecker was requested by the owner and the vehicle was towed to Goudelock's Wrecker located on Old Willis School Road.
