Catawba Valley Community College has announced that it is reducing its workforce.  A news release, the school said declining enrollment has made the adjustment necessary.  27 employees were affected by the cutback.

Two Local Recruits Graduate From Appalachian Police Academy
Karson Williams of Lincolnton and Maya Kapoor of Huntersville where two of the sixteen students who graduated from Appalachian State University’s Appalachian Police Academy — a component of the Appalachian Police Officer Development Program (APDP) — on Aug. 27 in Rosen Concert Hall, representing the program’s fifth class.

Hometown Heroes Banners Going Up This Week
The Hometown Heroes banners that are put up for Veterans Day got a late start this year.  You may have noticed that through last week, the only banners that had been hung were from the Police Dept. to Fifth Third Bank and around the Courtsquare.  None had been hung in the first three blocks of East Main Street.  That's about to change.
