Lincoln County Sheriff's Office investigators are continuing their investigation into two deaths in the Denver area that appear to be connected.  A 35-year-old woman, Debra Ana Jackson, was shot to death on Monday (Jan. 9th).  The body of a man was found in a pond not far from her home.  Officers are continuing to piece together what happened.

Coldest in Years Friday Night, Saturday (UPDATED)
Falling temperatures and increasing winds made Friday night (Dec. 23rd) dangerous for outdoor activities. Because of the risk of hypothermia with the extreme cold temperatures, the carriage &  wagon rides and Santa's House were canceled.  While winds had calmed a little, the wind chill at 7:15 AM Saturday was -7° in Lincolnton; the actual temp was 6°, up from the low of 5°.

Body Found in Catawba County Was Homicide Victim
The Medical examiner has ruled that the body found last Saturday (Dec. 3rd) off Lee Cline Road is that of a homicide victim, but the cause of death was not released in the autopsy report on Thursday.  Fingerprint analysis has now identified the victim in the case as Luiz Enrique Rodriguez, 51, a Catawba County resident.
