Nellie Jo McGuinn Childers
April 25, 1932 - May 22, 2023

CATAWBA, N.C. - Nellie Jo McGuinn Childers, 91, of Catawba passed away on Monday, May 22, 2023 at Carolina Caring in Newton.

She was born April 25, 1932 in Catawba County to the late James Hubert and Nellie Brown McGuinn. Nellie was a member of Catawba United Methodist Church in Catawba and retired from the furniture industry. She loved to read, play games - especially Rook, work in her garden, listen to George Strait, and watch the Dallas Cowboys, but mostly loved her family and spending time with them.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lewis Lee Childers; sisters, Shirley Hoover, and Peggy Bolick; grandson, Justin Lee Childers; and son-in-law, Gary Lee.

Those left to cherish her memory are her sons Randy Childers and wife Sandy of Conover, Darrell Childers and wife Jayne of Monroe; daughters Deborah Steelmon and husband Ronnie of Newton, Vicky Lee of Catawba; sisters Betty Ruth Wilkinson of Hickory, Phyllis Waugh and husband Marvin of Catawba, Patricia Browning of Raleigh; grandchildren Kelly Childers, Megan Fraley, Angie Robinette, Windy Turner, Sarah Patton, Jessica Wulff, Emily Schrum, Matthew Steelmon, Ronnie Steelmon and Cindy Steelmon; great-grandchildren

Great-grandchildren: Christian Childers, Caroline Childers, Cameron Childers, Caleb Fraley, Katherine Fraley, Bobby Robinette, Ava York, Aliyah York, Logan Turner, Ramsey Turner, Jake Patton, Luke Patton, Max Patton, Sadie Schrum, Titus Schrum, Judah Schrum, Rhyan Wulff, Boone Wulff, Molly Wulff, Rayne Wulff, P.J. Bryant, Gracie Steelmon and Auton Steelmon

A private graveside service to celebrate Nellie’s life will be held at a later date.

Problems With Our Lincoln Herald Email Link:  We apologize to those readers who had signed up for our free daily email with links to our latest articles.  You haven't been receiving that email recently.  The company that was handling sending out the daily emails with links to our latest articles failed us.  After many talks with them and other companies, we have decided to enter into a new agreement with another company that will provide the platform for the Lincoln Herald as well as other services including sending out those emails.
