DALLAS, N.C. - Bobbie Metcalf Self Caldwell, age 90, of Hardin Road in Dallas, and formerly of Williams Street in Lincolnton, passed away on Saturday, January 21, 2023.

Ms. Caldwell was born May 6, 1932, in Green County, Tennessee, a daughter of the late Joseph Hubert Metcalf and Cora Cannon Metcalf.

Ms. Caldwell is survived by her sons, Roger Self (Dianne) of Dallas, and Monty Self (Melanie) of Dallas; stepdaughters, Monica, Sharon, and Tiffany; grandchildren, Jason, Joshua, Ashley, Ryan, and Taylor; 12 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

In addition to her parents, Ms. Caldwell was preceded in death by her first husband, Guy E. Self to whom she married in 1950; second husband, Billy Joe Caldwell to whom she married in 1999; granddaughters, Katelyn and Amanda Self; brothers, William H. Metcalf, Joseph H. Metcalf Jr., and Barber Lee Metcalf; and sisters, Annie Mae Moore, and Hilda LeCroy.

The family wishes to express their gratitude to the staff at Carolina Caring of Newton, and also to Ms. Caldwell’s special friend and caregiver, Gail Villalobos.

A funeral service for Ms. Caldwell will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, January 24, 2023, at Hardin Community Baptist Church, Dallas, with Rev. Kevin Rohm and Rev. Justin Driver officiating. Interment will follow in Hovis Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until 1:45 p.m. prior to the funeral service at the church.
