Mary Todd Lincoln was the wife of the infamous Abraham Lincoln. Todd and Lincoln were from different backgrounds, but she did have something in common with her future husband. Like Lincoln, Todd lost her mother at an early age. While the future first lady had a comfortable living, her biggest loss affected her throughout her youth.Unlike Lincoln, the lady earned her education with ease; in-fact, she engaged in private schooling. Her intelligence as well as her excitable nature defined the future first lady. The lady’s traits must have appealed to Lincoln, for when the future president and Todd met in Springfield, Illinois, they formed a relationship. After the duration of three years, Lincoln and Todd tied the knot. When Lincoln was president, Todd suffered continuing critique from the nation. Americans disliked her extravagant spending (particularly during her parties). However, when Willie (her child) died in 1862, the public harassed her for ceasing to host events.Todd was heartbroken when both her husband and her sons passed away. For the rest of her life, the lady was a distraught and troubled individual. Mary Toddy Lincoln was laid to rest in 1882.
