LINCOLNTON––Christian Ministry of Lincoln County will be closed this Good Friday, March 29.

That’s the word Thursday from executive director Mitzi Williams. As Williams informed, LINC Home Meals will not be delivered that day. But the ministry’s soup kitchen will be open, 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.

In other news, she cited upcoming Easter-related services at the First United Methodist Church of Lincolnton. They include a Maundy Thursday service (March 28) at 7 p.m. This is a service of remembrance of Christ’s Last Supper with His Disciples. And Easter Sunday, March 31, sunrise services will be held at 7 a.m. on the steps of the sanctuary. Easter worship services follow at 11 a.m., with special music by the church’s chancel choir.

First Methodist is located at 201 E. Main St. in downtown Lincolnton.

“Amazing Race Against Hunger” is May 4

And it’s not too soon to be thinking about the annual “Amazing Race Against Hunger.”

Williams revealed that this year’s race, an important fundraiser for Christian Ministry, will be held on Saturday, May 4, with the doors of Emmanuel Lutheran Church opening at 5 p.m. and the game beginning at 5:30 p.m. Emmanuel Lutheran is located at 216 S. Aspen St., also in downtown Lincolnton.

“The key every year to our ‘Amazing Race’ fundraiser is the money raised ahead of time and brought by teams and groups the day of the event,” said Williams. “This year is no different! The money raised goes 100 percent to help feed those in need of a hot, well-balanced lunch that cannot afford it themselves. The team, family, group etc. that brings the most money to the event will win the honor of our perpetual trophy for one year. You do not have to play bingo for this part, but the money needs to be brought to the event that day in order to win. Please begin now raising and collecting money. All proceeds from the bingo games will also go to LINC Meals.”
