LINCOLNTON––A housefire has claimed the lives of three people.
According to Lincoln County Public Affairs Officer Vanessa León, at about 2:46 a.m., Wednesday morning (today, April 17), Lincoln County 911 Communications was alerted to a residential fire at 1661 Cloudburst Circle in Lincolnton. The North 321 Fire Department responded and found heavy fire throughout the house. The caller contacting 911 Communications said there were people inside the home.
León continued that also assisting in fighting the blaze were firefighters from the Maiden, Pumpkin Center and Lincolnton fire departments. The blaze was brought under control in 20 minutes.
Firefighters found three victims in the home: two adults and one child. Their names have not yet been released. One firefighter sustained minor injuries while battling the fire: the result of a structural collapse while trying to rescue the victims. He was treated and has been released.
The investigation into the origin and cause of the fire is pending. The Lincoln County Fire Marshal’s Office, Lincoln County Emergency Medical Services, the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office, North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation and North Carolina Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms are assisting in the investigation.
