This is wonderful news. I think NC and other states should enact this law quickly.
Ms. Marino's visits were thanks to the Lincoln County Public Library. It was the library that set up the school visits and workshops at all three branches.
The City of Lincolnton certainly collects more than 8% of the county-wide sales tax within the city limits. And the change to ad-valorem from the per capita formula reduces that measly percentage. The county commissioners should be ashamed.
That must have been one huge expansion of services, by the sheriff's office, on the east side. Sheriff's office budget has almost tripled in the last eight years or so and has grown to more than the city of Lincolnton's operating budget.
I miss the small town feeling Lincolnton had.so many farms turned to multi family homes. The retail stores & what are left of the grocery stores are constantly burdened with inventory depletion, Try traversing 150/73 Main Street during 5pm . Small side roads like Car Farm Road & Shuford are constantly congested with semi trucks taking short cuts on these roads . Schools, emergency services , retail stores , social services are all overburdened due to the extreme explosion of incoming residents. No shortages of Dollar General stores as they seem to be built within 3-4 miles of each other

And you gave me the opening to share with others that the speed limits on Car Farm and Shuford are 35 MPH and 45 MPH in different sections of those roads respectively. Too many treat these two-lane roads to get to 321 or 150 like it is a high-speed interstate.
They also utilize Bethel Church Rd as a bypass . I didn't care for the new location of the hospital as Bethel Church Road is utilized now as a superhighway to get around the excessive traffic thru town . Not what invisioned when I purchased my property several years ago. I understand progress , don't have to like it, but everything grows unfortunately.
