Catawba Valley Community College and Mars Hill University have entered a new arrangement.

This week, the two schools signed an articulation agreement that will help CVCC students navigate a seamless transition into a bachelor of science degree in criminal justice, available via Mars Hill’s Internet-based learning programs. Mars Hill University is a private liberal-arts college just outside of Asheville.

One requirement is that students must have completed their associate’s degree at CVCC prior to continuing their education at Mars Hill University, according to Sherry Herman. The department head of criminal justice and law-enforcement education at CVCC, Herman recently spoke of this unique opportunity for students to continue their education and pursue their career goals.

She believes that this collaboration between CVCC and Mars Hill University will “undoubtedly support many aspiring professionals in the field.”

Also commenting was Clyde Deal.

The chief of security and law-enforcement education at CVCC, Deal said he is also excited to “add additional pathways for our students who choose to make the transition from CVCC into the university setting. We are constantly striving to help our students acquire the best opportunities available at any level of higher education, and our department cannot wait to see the benefits that this partnership brings to our students.”
